Dennis Heath, Founding Principal
As one of the founding principals, Dennis' role as the CEO is to drive the business performance of MBH. He defines, implements, and monitors the business framework and culture of MBH. Dennis' goal is to create a new type of architectural firm that blends traditional architectural services with strong business acumen unique to the architectural industry. Dennis and John lead the annual effort for the company and studio business plans. Dennis has spoken at graduate classes at the University of California at Berkeley and at St. Mary's College in Moraga, California. He is a licensed Architect in 39 states and holds a Bachelors of Environmental Design from the University of Kansas.
Clay Fry, Principal
Clay is the Principal in Charge of the Special Projects Studio at MBH. After starting with MBH in 1995, he was appointed principal in 2001 and since then has worked on numerous project types including historical renovation/rehabilitation, multi-family housing, retail center design, master planning, office buildings, restaurants, commercial interiors, tenant improvements, commercial renovation/models and accessibility retrofits. Prior to working at MBH, Clay was a partner at a firm in the Bay Area that specialized in forensic architecture. He is a licensed Architect in the state of California and earned his Bachelor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo.
Don Dacumos, Principal
Don is Principal in Charge of the Retail and Restaurant Studios. He adds twenty-five years of retail experience in management and design to the MBH team. He oversees schedules, budgets, quality, staffing, and client services. Don brings a wide range of architectural experience including hospitality, restaurant, commercial, and retail. Prior to joining MBH, he worked at Gap Inc. where he gained in-depth understanding of retail strategies. A licensed Architect in 14 states and NCARB certified, Don earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Texas Tech University.
Andres Grechi, Principal
As Design Director for MBH, Andres is responsible for all elements of design for the entire spectrum of MBH project types including: Mixed-Use, Residential, Retail, and Specialty Retail. Andres joined MBH in 1998 as a Senior Designer. His steadfast work ethic, innate ability to relate with clients and cohorts, and his genuine commitment to the firm's clients led to his appointment as principal in 2007.
Before joining MBH Architects, he spent fourteen years at Hellmuth Obata Kassabaum, Inc. (HOK). In that time, he represented HOK in its collaboration with Mario Botta on the famous San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and again represented the firm in its collaboration with Gae Aulenti on the San Francisco Asian Art Museum. Andres received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Cogswell College in San Francisco, California.
John McNulty, Founding Principal
As one of the founding principals of MBH, John is responsible for New Business Development and Client Relations. This requires continued involvement throughout the entire development of all projects, from the conceptual design stages and contract negotiations to contract closeouts. John has the responsibility for defining the firm's personality, which is rooted in client service and internal staff development. He has served as Principal in Charge of many of the firm's major projects and contributes to each of the MBH studios. He is a member of the advisory council for SPUR and serves on the board of the Good Tidings Foundation. Also a former Board Member of the San Francisco Chapter of AIA, he is a frequent guest lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Design.
Klas Eklöf, Principal
Klas arrived at his career in architecture through his early love of drawing, an interest which has guided his technical and artistic development. Joining MBH in 1999, Klas has worked on a broad spectrum of projects, including commercial buildings, restaurants, office improvements, multi-family housing, master planning, and historical renovations. Due to his technical skills and proficiency in REVIT, Klas has brought MBH to the next level of integrating long-lasting design with cutting edge technology. His ability to build strong relationship with our clients and his clear vision for the future of the company has made his leadership indispensable at MBH, and led to his appointment as principal in 2013. A licensed Architect since 2005, Klas received a Bachelor’s of Architecture from Cornell University, and is a LEED accredited professional.
Oliver Mellows, Principal
Oliver is the Controller and Director of the Accounting and Administration departments. He manages MBH’s performance as a professional enterprise, focusing on the business and financial issues that come with being a leading retail design firm. Since joining MBH in 2000, Oliver has worn many hats due to his background in both accounting and business administration; having acted in roles from project manager to director of human resources. His versatility within the firm and involvement in diverse aspects of business management has made him a key leader in the company’s future, and led to his appointment as principal in 2013. Oliver has an MBA from St. Mary’s College of California.
Dimple Manghani, Principal
Dimple's rise to principal has been in the works since she started with MBH in 2003. As a licensed architect and a LEED accredited professional with a penchant for business development, she plays a critical role in the firm's leadership. Aside from exhibiting unparalleled proficiency in her work, she is one of three prominent women of MBH to establish the Women in the Workplace committee with the intention of creating a safe forum for all employees to discuss the biases and trials of daily life. With her acumen in client relations, she set the stage for MBH's introduction into the realm of luxury retail. Consequently, Dimple is now the Principal in charge of the Luxury Retail Studio. Dimple holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the L.S. Raheja School of Architecture in India.
