MBH Architects Alameda

The Island Life, Since 1989

MBH Architects was founded in Alameda, California, an 1 mile from Oakland and 9 miles from San Francisco, in 1989 on the notion of creating a better architectural practice.  Armed with a clear vision and with backgrounds strongly influenced by solid business ideals, three ambitious architects decided to open their own firm, introducing MBH. MBH's first large clients were retail companies that provided the young firm with a steady flow of work. Empowered by this early success, MBH expanded the practice into the commercial, hospitality, restaurant, and multi-family housing fields.  The firm quickly began to develop long term relationships with numerous clients, and during the following years completed a wide range of projects in nearly every state - as well as in Canada, Puerto Rico, Europe, Asia, South America and Australia.

Today, the firm has grown from the three founding Principals and a handful of employees to a staff of over 180 professionals in the Alameda headquarters. The firm's stability is reflected in the firm consistently ranking among the largest East Bay architectural firms and one of the top ten firms in the San Francisco Bay Area.
