Bakar BioEnginuity Hub has been given Special Mention in the Institutional Higher Education and Research Facilities category.
Bakar BioEnginuity Hub transforms a historically-significant building on the University of California, Berkeley campus from a structurally-deficient inoperable space into a coworking life science lab facility designed to LEED Gold standards. The design, which includes a glass-fronted addition and two new public plazas, modernizes the former Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive designed by Mario Ciampi to today’s standards while honoring the building’s original brutalist design.
The Architizer A+Awards is the largest awards program focused on promoting and celebrating the year’s best architecture. Its mission is to nurture the appreciation of meaningful design in the world and champion its potential for a positive impact on everyday life.
